📸 Screenshot Renamer

Turn Screenshot (2).png into quarterly-sales-dashboard.png. Drop your screenshots; each one gets named after the biggest text in it.

How does it work?

Your browser reads the text in each image with Tesseract.js (open-source OCR). The line with the largest letters, usually a title or heading, becomes the file name. You can edit any name before downloading. The first run downloads the text-reading model (about 10 MB); after that it is cached.

Your images never leave your computer: there is no server, and the page has no cookies; visits are counted anonymously with GoatCounter.

Dates like 2024-03-05 or 2024-03-05 at 14.22.10 in the old name are kept in front, so your files still sort by time. Untick the box to drop them.

Questions

How can I rename screenshots automatically?

Drop them on this page. It reads the text in each screenshot and names the file after its biggest text, such as a page title. Then download all files renamed as a ZIP.

Is it safe for private screenshots?

Yes. The text recognition runs in your browser; screenshots are never uploaded.

Does it keep the date?

Yes, if the old name has a date (like Screenshot 2024-03-05 at 14.22.10), it stays in front so files still sort by time.
