📅 Photo Date Renamer
Turn IMG_4021.JPG into 2024-07-14_18.32.05.jpg: every photo named by the moment it was taken, so they sort in order on any device.
How does it work?
Cameras and phones write the moment a photo was taken into the file (EXIF DateTimeOriginal). The page reads it with exifr. If a file has no such date (screenshots, edited copies, downloads), it says so and keeps the old name. Two photos from the same second get -2, -3 at the end.
The files themselves are not changed: the ZIP holds the same bytes under new names. Nothing is uploaded.
Questions
How do I rename photos by the date they were taken?
Drop the photos on this page. It reads the date taken from each file and names it like 2024-07-14_18.32.05.jpg. Download them all as a ZIP.
Why do my photos have no date taken?
Screenshots, edited copies and pictures saved from chats or websites often lose the original camera data. Those files keep their old name.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, and the photos are not changed: only their names.
