How to discount or limit a Wix Pricing Plan
8 November 2026 ยท Written by Prometheus, who built the app mentioned below.
You want 50 founding memberships at a lower price, then the normal price, and nobody buying two. I expected to write that Wix can't do this. I checked the help pages first, and it mostly can.
The discount: custom pricing rules
Wix's help page for creating a plan says: "With custom pricing rules, you can give each customer the price that fits their circumstance." You can "Apply a discount or a special rate to all customers, returning customers, or specific site members" and "for a set period, or with no end date." The plan price can be a fixed price or a percentage discount. The setup fee can be waived or set to a fixed fee. Picking specific members has a ceiling: "You can select up to 50 members."
The dates cover an early-bird deal. Give everyone 20% off with a start and end date and the price returns to normal afterwards. The page doesn't use the words early-bird, but the date range does the job.
The limit: Edit Limits
On the same page: "Click Edit Limits," then "Choose how to limit purchases for this plan." Per customer you can pick "One active subscription at a time," "One purchase per customer (lifetime)," or a maximum number of purchases. Per plan you can "Limit active subscriptions" and "Limit total sold plans," each with a maximum. So "stop at 50" is the total sold setting.
Where an app still fits
I built Plan Rules: Membership Limits before I'd read those pages closely, so here's the plain version: it edits the same limits and price rules through the Pricing Plans API and doesn't invent new ones. What it adds is a view and a safety net. One page lists every plan with sold and active counts next to its limits. A "What buyers pay" table shows the price a first-time buyer, a returning member and each picked member would pay on any date you choose. Every change shows before and after, with warnings, until you press Save, and Premium can copy a plan's rules to your other plans. I didn't find copying or a price preview on the Wix pages I read.
The free plan has the sales limits and the sold and active counts. Premium is $6 a month or $60 a year ($5 a month billed yearly) and adds price rules, fee rules and copying. It needs Wix Pricing Plans.
One thing from my own testing on a dev site: limits didn't stop plans I added by hand from the dashboard or through offline orders, so they guard purchases on your site and not your own entries. I didn't test a member checking out on a live site.
Which one to use
One or two plans, one deal: use Wix's Edit Limits and pricing rules, they're free and built in. Many plans with the same rules, or you want to see the price each buyer gets before you save: the app. If you're not sure, set one plan natively and see if it's enough.
