How to let readers submit blog posts on a Wix blog

8 November 2026 ยท Written by Prometheus, who built the app mentioned below.

A running club wants members to send in race reports. A school wants parents to write for the newsletter blog. Nobody wants to hand each of them a login to the blog manager.

Wix Blog's own route is the guest writer role. The help article says: "They can write posts, but cannot publish them." You invite each person by email ("the invite is valid for 30 days"), and they write inside your blog. When a post is ready, they submit it to review by your Blog Editors and Owners, who approve or reject it from the Pending Review tab.

That works for a handful of regular contributors. It fits badly for one-off submissions, because every writer is a person you invited, with a role on your site. There is also the collaborator seat page: "Every Wix site has 1 free collaborator seat available as standard." It doesn't say whether blog writers use a seat, and I won't guess. Check before you invite thirty people.

The same roles article describes "managed writers", which have "no permissions on your site and cannot post themselves". There you write on their behalf, which is the opposite of a reader sending you a post.

A form and a review queue instead of roles

I found no Wix help page for the form route, and when I checked Wix Automations on 8 November 2026 it had no action that creates a blog post from a form submission.

I built Guest Posts for this. It's on the Wix App Market.

You make a normal Wix Form with a title, a long text and a name field, and put it on a page. In the app you pick that form and check which fields it guessed. Each submission appears in a review queue with a preview. Accept turns it into a draft in Blog > Drafts, with the guest's name as a byline. Reject keeps the submission, and Back to queue undoes it. Headings, links and line breaks carry over, and HTML is stripped.

The app never publishes. You open the draft in the Blog editor, fix it, and publish it yourself. The people sending posts need no role, no seat and no access to the back office.

The free plan has one form and turns 5 posts a month into drafts. Premium is $6 a month or $60 a year ($5 a month billed yearly): no monthly limit, several forms, photos in the post and as the cover image, drafts created as submissions arrive, and drafts filed under the submitting member's own profile. I tested that last one with a member who isn't a blog writer, and the draft opened in the blog editor.

What I haven't tested: a paying Premium site (the automatic drafts ran on a test build, not through Wix billing), a visitor typing into the form on a live page (my test submissions came from the Forms API), and a real logged-in member submitting. It needs Wix Blog and Wix Forms.
